TWO FLORAL & HERBAL FACIAL STEAMS

DIY FACIAL STEAMS

I have come under a bit of a low patch in regards to my health, burning the candle at both ends and not really looking after my body or spending some time any time on myself and loved ones. The change in temperature, it’s a lot cooler now in Sydney. Although it’s my favourite time of the year, I am a little mentally and physically exhausted after the lead up to Mothers Day. My asthma is playing up full strength and I haven lapsed using the suggested medication to help ease and prevent it, and of course not getting enough sleep or finding the time to concentrate on myself has left me feeling rather flat and moody. And as for my skin, well it too could do with a lot of attention, it’s looking tired and rather flat not glowing and radiant as I would love it be.

When I’m so run down like this my favourite pick me is a herbal fruit steam facial, easy to make and on a budget too. I like to use herbs I have grown in my garden too. Steam is an excellent way to draw out the impurities and toxins for the pores. The herbal, floral and fruit extracts help cleanse and detox. And of course with my asthma I find including plants such as eucalyptus & peppermint really help to ease my lungs too.

Steaming is such a great treatment for near instant relaxation and I like to follow with one of the Clay Facial Masks you can find in our online store here.

Here are some additional benefits to a facial steam:

Unclogs Pores
The warmth from the steam helps loosen pores so dirt can come out.

Reliefs Anxiety
Breathing in therapeutic herbs helps to sooth the nerves, promotes relaxation and reduces stress.

Get Glowing
Boosts the blood circulation and leaves skin clear and refreshed.

Oxygenates Skin
Revives tired dry and dull skin.

Depending on your skin type I have listed two recipes for facial steam cleansers.

NORMAL SKIN TYPE

Recipe:
Roses :: Lavender :: Fennel :: Lemon :: Chamomile
Essentials of Lavender or Rose Geranium

To make: Add the recipe of herbs and flowers to a bowl along with 2 cups of boiling water add in a few drops of essential oils at this point, for normal skin we suggest Lavender or Rose Geranium Essential Oil. Hang your head over the bowl, and drape a towel over your head and the bowl, creating a steam tent. Steam your face and neck for about 5 minutes, remembering to breathe in the therapeutic scent. Then rinse your face and neck with lukewarm water and pat dry and follow with our Clay PURIFY Facial Mask.

OILY SKIN TYPE

Recipe:
Eucalyptus :: Rosemary :: Lemongrass :: Lavender :: Sage :: Chamomile
Essentials of Juniper Berry or Peppermint
