RECIPE: BOTANICAL WINTER SALT SCRUB

KEEP YOUR SKIN SUPER SMOOTH AND HYDRATED OVER THE WINTER MONTHS WITH THIS EASY BOTANICAL WINTER SALT SCRUB TUTORIAL.

Salt Scrub Benefits : Anti–ageing, moisturising, reduces inflammation and aids problematic skin.

Coconut oil is among the healthiest ingredients to consume on the planet but it’s also extremely beneficial for hair and skin care. It acts as a moisturiser for all skin types delaying the appearance of age and wrinkles. Coconut oil also aids in treating many skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin issues. For that reasons alone we use coconut oil in all our soap bars and skincare products.

We are going to use salt as the exfoliant in the scrub recipe, otherwise sugar is a great substitute. Salts are packed with minerals which enhance the skin. The magnesium in Epsom salts reduce inflammation whilst the sulphates flush out toxins. Mixed with coconut oil, salt can breathe new life into skin.

Thyme essential oil stimulates blood flow to tissues. It helps heal bruises, sprains, and other injuries. The oil is antiseptic, antispasmodic, diuretic, and a good decongestant.

Lavender essential oil inhibits the bacteria that cause the initial infection, helps to regulate some of the over-excretion of sebum by hormonal manipulation, and can reduce the signs of scarring after the acne has begun to heal. Besides soothing acne prone skin, lavender oil is a wonderful remedy for eczema. It relieves itching and decongests the irritated patches of skin by adding moisture, thus speeding up the healing process. Regular usage of this oil lessens eczema outbreaks to a significant extent. Lavender also tones and firms your skin as it boosts circulation, thus increasing the blood flow to supply adequate oxygen and nutrition to the skin cells. This helps in keeping the cells healthy and boosting their renewal process. Find Lavender oil here at Gum Tree Lane.

Botanical Winter Salt Scrub Ingredients

Coconut Oil : Fine Sea Salt : Epsom Salt : Lavender Essential Oil: Thyme Essential Oil

Mix together the sea salt and epsom salt with the coconut oil, you could use olive oil as an alternative. You may need to heat the coconut oil gently over warm water depending on the room temperature. Its winter here in Sydney so my coconut oil is solid. Add drops of the essential oils to your desired strength. You want the scrub too be well combined – not too oily, not too crumbly!
